Dislessia.net

Dislessia.net is an online community of both amatorial and professional practitioners in education of young students with Special Education Needs (SEN). Its purpose is to collect didactic material as study aid for young students with learning disabilities. Members are able to publish exclusively first-hand original material.

Contents & Purpose

The didactic sheets of the Iliad tell the story of the Homeric poem in a simplified and approachable manner that is meant for teenagers with Special Education Needs (SEN), but is suitable for children as well.

The material is composed of a slideshow with text and illustrations, along with a separate file with illustrations only (titled “thumbnails”), accompanied by brief captions. The slideshow contains thirty-four pages recounting the story of the Iliad. At first, three introductory slides are provided, which supply broad and simple information on the epic genre and the historicity of the war of Troy .
Secondly, the narrative proper begins, going through the events of the Trojan War «secondo Omero» (‘according to Homer’).

The narrative’s strategy is based on introducing the Homeric characters beforehand, by a cartoon sketch and their name, and then have them interact and perform the events of the poem.
Along the same lines as the slideshow, the illustration sheets have two pages of characters’ thumbnails and four pages of sketches of the Trojan war’s story.

Further comments

The slideshows and thumbnails of the Iliad are in the schede didattiche section, for the category: 1° liceo artistico, italiano, epica. The content is suitable for multimedia interactive whiteboards.
